Folkestone Pride presents a special screening of this critically acclaimed comedy drama, telling the true story of the lesbian and gay activists who supported the miner’s strike in 1984.

On the 40th anniversary of the Miners’ Strike we look back on this pivotal time when, as the Tories threatened the livelihoods of miners across the UK, an unlikely alliance occurred. A spirited group of gay activists, calling themselves ‘Lesbians & Gays support the Miners’ drove a minibus from Hackney to South Wales to stand side by side with the striking workers. Based on a true story, this is an uplifting tale of solidarity, action, and acceptance.

Brought to you by Folkestone Pride, the screening will feature an introduction with an activist from Lesbians and Gays Support the Migrants on the legacy of the 80’s movement. There will be a bar open from 7:00pm for a pre-screening drink.

Please note: This film contains moderate profanity, discriminatory and homophobic language, and sexual reference.
