This autumn, the Silver Screen Cinema is proud to host eight Sunday matinee screenings as part of the BFI’s nationwide Powell + Pressburger season, Cinema Unbound.

The classic British movies from the filmmaking duo Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger regularly appear in all-time top film lists and films to see before you die, and have influenced generations of artists and filmmakers, from Martin Scorsese and Wes Anderson, to Barbie director Greta Gerwig.  

See eight of their best films on our big screen every Sunday at 3pm. Individual tickets are available from £5.50, or you can enjoy the entire season with our Powell + Pressburger Season Pass from just £25.

Our Powell + Pressburger season pass gives you access to all eight screenings for just £30. Concession passes are available for £25.

Once you have your season pass, you can use it by logging in to your account, then booking tickets for each event you’d like to attend in the programme above. One ticket for each screening will be reduced to £0.00 once you reach checkout. Season passes are limited to one per customer. When purchasing, please select [F] for the full pass, or [C] if you qualify for the concession pass. Terms & Conditions apply to all season passes.

Season Pass FAQ

Q. How does my Season Pass work?

After you buy a season pass, you can use it straight away to book one free ticket to each of the eight screenings shown above. Your tickets will be discounted to £0.00 once you log in and reach the checkout.

Q. Can I use my Season Pass for events at other venues?

Sorry, no. Our Powell + Pressburger season pass is only for the eight films showing at the Silver Screen Cinema. For Powell + Pressburger events taking place at another venue, please visit that venue’s website for tickets.

Q. Does my pass automatically give me tickets to all screenings?

No. You must still book tickets for the screenings you would like to attend, but your pass will mean these tickets are free. Your pass will allow you to book one free ticket for each screening.

Q. Can I buy more than one Season Pass?

No. Season passes are limited to one per customer account. Please see item 6 under our Terms & Conditions for more information.

Q. Which Season Pass should I buy? [F] or [C]?

If you qualify for a Concession Season Pass, please select the [C] pass when purchasing. Otherwise, please select the [F] pass. See the next question for Concession Season Pass eligibility.

Q. Who qualifies for a Concession Season Pass?

Concession passes are available to:

  • Recipients of Universal Credit, JSA, ESA, PIP, or Carer’s Allowance in the UK;
  • Anyone aged 17 and under;
  • Anyone over the age of 60;
  • Students.

You may be asked to show proof of age or status if you have booked tickets using a concession season pass.

Q. How do I use my Season Pass?

Once you have your pass, you can use it to book tickets for season screenings straight away; make sure you log in to your account, then book tickets for each screening as normal. One ticket for each screening will be discounted to £0.00 once you reach the checkout.

Q. Can I use my Season Pass to get a ticket on the door?

Yes, but tickets are subject to availability and your pass does not guarantee you entry to an event if it has sold out by the time doors open, nor does it guarantee you a specific seat in the screen. We recommend you use your pass to book your ticket in advance to ensure you have a seat when you arrive.

Q. Will I be charged a booking fee when I use my Season Pass to book tickets?

No. Booking fees are not applied when you use your pass, which means that the cost of your pass is the only amount you will pay for any screening in our season.

Q. What are the Terms & Conditions for my Season Pass?

Taking place from October – December 2023, Cinema Unbound: The Creative Worlds of Powell + Pressburger is a UK-wide film celebration of one of the greatest and most enduring filmmaking partnerships in the history of cinema: Michael Powell (1905 to 1990) and Emeric Pressburger (1902 to 1988), best known for iconic films including The Red Shoes (1948), A Matter of Life and Death (1946) and Black Narcissus (1947).
