Casablanca: The Event

Step back in time as we hold a black tie screening of the classic 1942 film noir ‘Casablanca’, in support of Pilgrims Hospices. The film was screened from a new 35mm print prepared for the 70th Anniversary of ‘Casablanca’. The popular event was organised by community fundraiser Tom Langlands (shown with Silver Screen Cinema founder Sandy Wallace) and raised nearly £2,500 for the charity.

Attendees were given the opportunity to walk the red carpet, before being greeted by projectionist Chris Lightwing at the auditorium entrance, then entering the screen and taking their seats to the sound of live musician Alex McNeice on his piano.

The event included a charity prize draw, and was followed by an exclusive after show party for holders of tickets numbered 1-200.

Pilgrim’s Hospices’ Nigel Donkin said at the time, “This was a fantastic way of raising funds for Pilgrims, an evening of fun and nostalgia that was superbly organised. “
