We want everyone to enjoy their visit to our cinema, so when we issue you with a cinema ticket and/or provide you with access to our cinema, you will be subject to the following Terms. Please read them carefully before you visit.

  1. We reserve the right to refuse admission to or require to leave the premises (without providing a refund) anyone:
  • where there might be a risk to the safety of others if we do not;
  • who verbally abuses staff;
  • who appears to be intoxicated and/or is behaving in an antisocial way;
  • who is in possession of alcohol or illegal drugs;
  • who brings hot food into the auditoria;
  • who is smoking or vaping on the premises;
  • who uses a mobile device inside the auditoria during the main feature;
  • who brings cameras or other recording equipment into the auditoria;
  • who arrives late to a performance;
  • who engages in any behaviour or activity that is disruptive to or damaging to our business or operation, process or practice.
  1. We are required by law to refuse admission to a film performance to anyone who in the opinion of the manager or box office staff appears to be below the minimum age required by the relevant classification of the British Board of Film Classification or Folkestone & Hythe District Council. We may require anyone to show valid acceptable proof of age before we can admit them; we accept digital ID from Yoti.com as proof of age.
  2. We are required by our licensing conditions to refuse admission to:
  • children aged under 8 years who are unaccompanied by an adult aged 18 years or over, for any film performance;
  • children aged under 12 years who are unaccompanied by an adult aged 18 years or over, for performances starting at or after 7pm;
  • children aged under 18 years who are unaccompanied by an adult aged 18 years or over, for seats in our balcony.
  1. It is an offence to make a recording of a film for sale or to distribute or communicate a recording to the public in the course of business and to the prejudice of the copyright holder. Anyone making such a recording may be arrested and prosecuted.
  2. Please ensure your mobile devices are set to silent and are not used during the main feature.
  3. Please look after your belongings during your visit. We advise against leaving your belongings outside the auditorium during the film. We accept no responsibility for any loss or damage to your belongings, however caused.
  4. Any belongings remaining on the premises after the owner has left will be stored in our lost property for 30 days. Any unclaimed belongings remaining in our lost property after 30 days will be donated or recycled. Customers may collect belongings from our lost property during cinema opening hours, but will be asked to describe the belongings and may also be asked to provide proof of identity before we can release belongings to them. Customers will be required to sign for any belongings they collect.

3. Tickets

  1. Tickets are subject to availability. Unless otherwise stated, tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded.
  2. The purchase of a ticket entitles the bearer access to the performance named at the stated time and date only.
  3. You must not resell or offer for resale any tickets or use tickets for advertising or promotions or for any other trade purposes. Tickets which are resold, offered for resale, or used in the aforementioned way will be invalidated.
  4. Ticket purchases are final. By purchasing tickets you accept that we are under no obligation to amend, cancel, or refund those tickets.
  5. We may, at our discretion and under certain circumstances, amend or cancel tickets upon request, provided we receive your request no less than 60 minutes before the performance time stated on the ticket. We recommend you submit your request by replying to your booking confirmation email, or by using our contact form and quoting your booking reference number or the TID displayed on the ticket.
  6. It is your responsibility to check your tickets as we are under no obligation to rectify mistakes after purchase of tickets. We are not obliged to replace lost or stolen tickets.
  7. It is your responsibility to ensure you bring your ticket with you to the performance, as we are under no obligation to admit anyone who is not in possession of a ticket for the relevant performance.
  8. We reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone bearing a ticket which requires additional identification or documentation as indicated on our website, where the bearer is unable to produce the required identification or documentation on request. In this situation, we may exchange the ticket for one which does not require any additional identification or documentation. If the replacement ticket is of a higher value, the bearer will be required to pay the difference in price before we can admit them.

4. Online & Telephone Purchases

  1. An online order of tickets or membership made through our website is an offer to purchase. If we accept your offer, we will display a confirmation page on your screen with a reference number, and there will be a contract between you and The Silver Screen Cinema.
  2. A telephone order of tickets or membership made over the telephone is an offer to purchase. If we accept your offer, we will provide you with a reference number during that telephone call, and there will be a contract between you and The Silver Screen Cinema.
  3. When we accept an online or telephone order for tickets, if you provide us with an email address during the order process, we will also send a confirmation email to that email address. This confirmation email acts as your digital ticket(s) and contains a QR code which will entitle the bearer access to the performance named at the stated time and date only. We advise you to check your confirmation email to ensure the QR code is displayed, and to save or print the confirmation email to ensure you are able to show it on arrival.
  4. We are not liable for any failure in the delivery of a confirmation email and/or subsequent refusal of admission due to:
  • an incorrect email address being provided during the order process;
  • your email account settings causing the confirmation email to be put into a spam or junk mail folder;
  • your email account provider blocking the confirmation email from arriving in your email account;
  • your email account or software failing to download or display the QR Code attached to the confirmation email.
  1. Customers are welcome to collect the tickets included in their order from our box office. To collect tickets, you will need to present the reference number in person at our box office. You may also need to confirm the email address associated with the order, or the last four digits of the card number used to purchase the tickets.
  2. Tickets are sold at the price quoted or displayed during the ordering process. All prices and fees include any applicable VAT.
  3. In addition to the price of your tickets, we will levy a non-refundable Advance Booking Fee against each ticket purchased online or over the telephone in consideration for the online and telephone service we offer to our customers, and this will be notified to you during the order process. This fee is levied to cover administrative costs, telephone costs, and other IT-related operational costs resulting from the provision of this service. No part of the Advance Booking Fee relates to the costs of card handling or for the use of a credit or debit card in the transaction.
  4. Orders placed online and over the telephone are final. By placing an order in this way, you accept that we are under no obligation to amend, cancel, or refund all or any part of your order, once the order process is complete.

5. Changes to Performances

  1. We will always try to ensure that performances take place in accordance with the advertised programme. However, we reserve the right to cancel a performance, vary the time of a performance, or substitute an alternative film.
  2. If it becomes necessary to cancel, substitute, or vary a performance due to circumstances beyond our control, we will, at our discretion, refund the cost of the ticket or issue another ticket for an alternative performance of the same film.
  3. Price and availability information is subject to change without notice. Please check our website before you travel.

6. Memberships

  1. Our memberships provide the member with benefits and discounts at The Silver Screen Cinema. Our memberships are not valid at any other cinema.
  2. Memberships for other cinemas or cinema companies are not valid at The Silver Screen Cinema, and will not be accepted in exchange for any benefit or discount at our cinema.
  3. Benefits and discounts may vary depending on the type of membership. Benefits and discounts for each membership type are listed on our website against the respective membership type.
  4. You may apply for a membership for yourself by creating an account (if you do not already have one) under your email address and name, and purchasing a membership while logged into your account. You can also purchase a membership in person at our box office by providing your name and/or email address. Each person may only have one active membership for themselves at any one time.
  5. We will confirm whether or not your application is accepted, in person, over the telephone, via email, or by displaying a confirmation screen on our website. Alternatively, we may decline your application at our discretion, and will notify you by one of the above methods. We may also decline your application and refund any membership fees paid within 24 hours of your purchase being completed.
  6. If we confirm your membership, there will be a contract between you and The Silver Screen Cinema.
  7. When you purchase a membership, you commit to a minimum period of 12 months of membership. Your membership will continue for at least 12 months, unless you or we terminate it in one of the ways set out in these Terms.
  8. When we accept your membership application for the first time, we will provide you with an account (if you do not already have one) under your name. This account will enable you to receive the membership benefits and/or discounts your membership qualifies for.
  9. If you provide an email address when you apply for a membership, we will also provide login details and access to our website (if you do not already have these). This access will enable you to receive the membership benefits and/or discounts your membership qualifies for, when you place an order through our website.
  10. When we accept your membership application, we will provide you with a membership card linked to your account for the duration of your membership. This membership card will enable you to receive the membership benefits and/or discounts when you make a purchase in-person at our cinema. Please bring this membership card with you on your visit.
  11. We are under no obligation to provide membership benefits or discounts to members who are unable to present their membership card on request.
  12. Please take care of your membership card. We may charge a small administration fee to replace lost or damaged membership cards. If your membership card is lost or stolen, please contact us as soon as possible to report it. No refunds will be given for purchases made between the date of a membership card being lost, stolen, damaged, or destroyed, and the date of a replacement membership card being issued.
  13. You may cancel your membership at any time within the cancellation period, which is 15 days from the date we accept your application. To cancel, you must contact us in writing by using our contact form, or by emailing info@folkestonecinema.com, or by writing to us at:

The Silver Screen Cinema
The Town Hall
1-2 Guildhall Street
Folkestone
CT20 1DY

  1. You may use your membership during the 15 day cancellation period, but if you use your membership before cancelling it, you agree to be charged and must pay the non-membership prices for any purchases you make during the cancellation period.
  2. If you cancel your membership during the cancellation period, you will receive a full refund of your membership fee. However, we may deduct any amounts payable resulting from use of your membership during the cancellation period, as described above. The refund amount will then be reduced accordingly.
  3. You may request cancellation of your membership outside of the cancellation period, only where:
  • you are unable to use your membership for a continuing period of three calendar months due to medical reasons, or;
  • your permanent address moves to an address outside of the Folkestone & Hythe District and Dover District areas.
  1. To request cancellation of your membership outside of the cancellation period, you must contact us in writing using one of the methods given above, stating the reasons for your request and attaching or enclosing any supporting evidence.
  2. We may, at our discretion, accept your cancellation request and terminate your membership with immediate effect, refunding you an amount of the membership fee proportionate to the number of full months remaining on your membership. Alternatively, we may decline your request, your membership will continue to the end of the membership term, and you will not be entitled to any refund of the membership fee.
  3. We may suspend or terminate a membership immediately on any of the following grounds:
  • if we suspect any fraud in any matter connected to the membership application, including providing false information on the application form;
  • in the event of fraudulent or significant misuse of the membership, including use by person(s) other than the member named on the membership;
  • if the member breaches any of our Terms & Conditions;
  • if the member engages in any behaviour or activity that is disruptive to or damaging to our business or operation, process or practice.
  1. If we terminate a membership on any of the above grounds, we may refund an amount of the membership fee proportionate to the number of full months remaining on your membership. However, we shall be entitled to retain a fair amount to reflect our loss from terminating the membership in this way, and the resulting administration involved in terminating the membership in this way.
  2. On cancellation or termination of a membership, the membership card will be deactivated and membership benefits will be withdrawn from the member’s account with immediate effect. If we have terminated a membership, we may also deactivate the member’s account and withdraw access to our website from that member.
